The Easiest Way to Ask for Google Reviews (with an example message you can copy)

Want More Google Reviews? Start Here.

Practical ways to build trust and visibility – one review at a time.
If you want to get more Google reviews, the first step in my opinion isn’t fancy software or an automated system.

It’s simply valuing getting reviews in the first place.

From what I’ve seen, when you really value getting reviews, opportunities to ask for them start popping up. You make it part of your conversations. It stays on your mind more often. You involve your team. And it starts becoming a normal habit.

👉 When you lead with that mindset, your team – and your customers – follow.

Not Sure Where to Start? Just Do This:

1. Go to your Google Business Profile and copy your review link.
2. Open your email inbox and look through the last 50 people you’ve communicated with.
3. Find some customers or colleagues from the list and paste this message and the review link into a quick email:

Subject line: Google Review (favor)

Dear [First Name],

Special favor. Could you please leave me a nice Google review when you have a moment and say a few words about your experience with us?
We’ve been working on getting more reviews, and your feedback would mean a lot – it only takes a minute.

Here’s the review link: [Insert your Google review link]

Really appreciate your help (so thank you in advance!).

That’s it. No software. No tech hurdles.
Just a simple message asking for the review.

Do that a few times a week and you’ll start seeing results. It’s a great way to get the ball rolling when you’re starting out.

Then Make It a Team Effort

Start talking about getting more reviews with your team. Whether it’s your front desk, field staff, or sales reps – get your people involved. Let them know you want more Google reviews and that you need their help.
You might be surprised how people will contribute and look for opportunities when you get them involved and ask for their help.

When asking for reviews becomes part of your normal way of doing business, the reviews just start happening.

More Than Just Asking Customers

It’s easy to forget, but great reviews can also come from:

  • Vendors who’ve seen how you operate
  • Strategic partners or contractors
  • Colleagues you know and trust

You just have to ask. That alone is the biggest difference-maker.

Other Ideas to Generate More Reviews

There are plenty of simple ways to make review requests part of your routine:

  • Add a QR code to your business cards, brochures, or signage that customers can scan to go directly to your profile and leave a review
  • Include the review link in your email signatures
  • Use software to automate post-job follow-ups (many of the tools you already use may have this built in)
  • Mention it during wrap-up calls or sales visits (for example: “Mrs. Customer, thank you for your time today. Our office will send you a review link – please be on the lookout. I’d really appreciate it if you could share some feedback about how we did.”)
  • Leave a reminder card at the end of the job or service

Small touches done consistently go a long way.

Set a Goal You Can Measure

Don’t wing it – track it.
If you have 20 reviews now, aim for 30 or 40.
If you’re at 100, push for 200.

📅 Just two new reviews a week adds up to 100+ in a year.

Bottom Line: Just Get Started

In my opinion, you don’t need a complicated strategy. You just need to get started with where you’re at.

  • Start with yourself by valuing reviews and asking for them.
  • Then involve your team.
  • Build from there and try to stay consistent along the way.

And the snowball will start to roll.
